Platinum cured and peroxide cured silicone differ in how the polymer chains are joined, and that difference reaches the finished hose. Peroxide curing uses a peroxide that breaks down under heat and leaves organic residues behind, so the rubber can carry a faint odor and release volatiles during service. Platinum curing is an addition reaction that produces no such byproducts, so the hose is cleaner, easier to control batch to batch, and more stable in compression. Peroxide systems remain useful where the compound needs certain fillers or where cost drives the choice, because they tolerate ingredients that would poison a platinum catalyst. Platinum cure is usually chosen where odor, extractables or long service life under heat matter, and peroxide cure where the application is less sensitive. Neither is automatically better: the compound, the filler package and the end use decide. Fudiesel confirms the cure system against the drawing or the supplied sample and states the agreed detail in the written quotation.
