When a silicone hose carries coolant or sits near oil, the fluid attacks the rubber from both sides at once, and the result is swell rather than a clean cut. Coolant pulls certain ingredients out of the compound, so the hose softens, swells and loses the grip it needs under the clamp. Oil and fuel vapor do the same more aggressively, and a hose that has swollen will not sit flat on the pipe. A liner is the usual answer: an oil resistant layer faces the fluid while the outer silicone keeps its heat resistance and flexibility. Judging a contaminated hose is a matter of condition, not of age. A hose that is soft, tacky or swollen on the inside has already lost its seal margin and should be replaced, while one that shows only surface staining keeps its shape and still fits. Fudiesel confirms the fluid and liner requirement against the drawing or the supplied sample and states the agreed detail in the written quotation.
