Fudiesel confirms a mandrel bend has not flattened the pipe bore by checking the curve itself, not only the straight sections. A mandrel bend is formed over a ball mandrel inside the tube while the outside is supported by the forming dies, which keeps the wall from collapsing and the section round through the arc. After bending, the ovality at the bend apex is measured and compared with the original diameter, and a through-passage check confirms the bore is clear enough for the intended flow. Wrinkling on the inner radius and thinning on the outer radius are looked for at the same time, because both restrict flow and weaken the pipe. Bends that fall outside the drawing limit on ovality or wall condition are rejected rather than shipped. Fudiesel agrees the bend radius, wall condition and inspection method with the buyer, confirms them against the drawing or the supplied sample and records them in the written quotation.
