Fudiesel decides exhaust hanger placement from how the system moves once it is hot, not only from where the factory hangers sit. A stainless or titanium exhaust grows as it heats and shrinks as it cools, so hangers are positioned so the pipe expands along its length without loading the manifold or the turbo flange and without pushing the tail section into a bumper or a fuel tank. Each support is placed so the weight of the assembly is carried evenly and the pipe cannot swing into the floor, the rear axle or brake lines on a rough road. Hanger rods and rubber isolators are selected so the system is held firmly but can still move in the direction that thermal growth demands. Chassis clearance is checked against the actual vehicle where a sample is available. Fudiesel confirms hanger positions against the drawing or the physical sample and records the agreed layout in the written quotation.
