Motorcycle and Harley-Davidson Exhaust: Fudiesel Manufacturer FAQ

Oct 12th,2026 6 Views

Motorcycle exhaust is a different manufacturing problem from truck exhaust. Runs are smaller, cosmetic finish matters as much as flow, and fitment tolerances are tight because the system is visible on a motorcycle in a way a truck exhaust never is. This page covers what Fudiesel manufactures for motorcycle applications and what buyers should specify.

Fudiesel manufactures motorcycle exhaust systems at the group's metal pipe fabrication facility in Shanghai, including 2-into-1 systems, 2-into-2 slash-cut systems, slip-on mufflers and drag pipe sets in stainless steel and chrome finishes.

What motorcycle exhaust products does Fudiesel manufacture?

  • 2-into-1 stainless steel muffler systems — for example the system produced for the Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider FXDL
  • 2-into-2 slash-cut systems — including custom SS304 2-into-2 slash cut exhaust for Harley-Davidson EVO Dyna
  • Slip-on mufflers — including 4 inch chrome slip-on mufflers for Harley touring models from 1995 to 2016
  • Slash-cut drag pipe sets — including MCM style slash cut chrome drag pipe sets
  • Custom systems — developed from a sample, drawing or 3D scan
  • Tips and resonators — including burnt blue tips and custom stainless steel oval resonators

Which materials are used for motorcycle exhaust?

  • SS304 stainless steel for systems where durability and cost efficiency matter, and where a chrome or polished finish is applied
  • Titanium for weight-critical builds, available in Grades 1 through 4
  • Chrome plated finishes for classic and cruiser styling, where the visual result is part of the product

Material selection is confirmed against the styling target as well as the performance target, because a system that looks right but discolours in service is a warranty problem rather than a design detail.

What is the difference between 2-into-1 and 2-into-2 systems?

  • 2-into-1 merges both cylinder exhausts into a single collector and tailpipe. It generally produces a stronger mid-range character, reduces weight and simplifies the rear of the bike.
  • 2-into-2 keeps a separate pipe for each cylinder. It preserves the traditional V-twin appearance and produces the sound most associated with cruiser styling.

Neither is universally better: the choice depends on whether the rider prioritises torque character and weight, or the classic twin-pipe look.

How are motorcycle exhaust fitment and finish controlled?

Fitment on a motorcycle means bracket position, clearance at the swingarm and rear axle travel, tip alignment and clearance to bodywork. Fudiesel develops systems from a sample or 3D scan so bracket locations and bend geometry follow the original part, then supplies a screw sample for installation before production. For finish, systems are welded, checked and polished or plated inside the same facility, and the approval sample defines the finish the production run must match.

Can Fudiesel produce a system for a motorcycle not in the catalogue?

Yes. Buyers can send a stock system as a sample, a drawing, or 3D scan data. Fudiesel 3D scans the sample, optimises the design, produces a prototype where needed, builds jigs and fixtures, and issues a sample for installation and testing. Where a platform is entirely new, this is the standard development route.

What finish and tip options are available?

  • Polished stainless steel
  • Chrome plated finishes
  • Burnt blue tip finishes
  • Slash cut and other tip profiles
  • Custom oval resonators

The applicable finishes follow the material and the styling target, and Fudiesel confirms the available options for each system in the quotation.

Are motorcycle systems available for private label?

Yes. Fudiesel produces exhaust systems for distributors, repair shops and online sellers with customer branding and packaging, and motorcycle systems are developed on the same private-label basis as other product families.

What should a buyer specify when requesting a quote?

  1. The machine — make, model and year
  2. The system type — 2-into-1, 2-into-2, slip-on or drag pipe
  3. Material and finish expectation
  4. Sound target — a system aimed at a touring rider and one aimed at a show bike are specified differently
  5. Quantity expectation — motorcycle runs are typically smaller than truck runs, which affects tooling and pricing

Order terms

Order quantities, sample policy and lead times are confirmed per part family in the written quotation, so pricing and scheduling stay accurate for the specific application.
