Pressure drop is measured by reading the pressure of the charge air before the intercooler and again after it, with both readings taken while air is flowing at the condition being judged. A single gauge tells nothing, because drop only exists while the air moves. Both readings are taken at the same time and flow, through ports that face the stream and sit clear of bends and sudden changes in section, since a badly placed port reads local turbulence rather than the core. The difference between the readings is the drop. It is reported together with cooling, never on its own, because a core can show a low drop by restricting less and cooling less. The useful result is the pair: how much heat came out for how much pressure was spent. A core that cools well at a modest drop is doing its job. Fudiesel confirms test conditions and reporting against the drawing or the supplied sample and states the agreed detail in the written quotation.
