What is the smallest bend radius a custom silicone hose can be produced in?

Oct 15th,2026 10 Views

Bend radius on a silicone hose cannot be reduced at will, because a tight bend forces the wall to stretch on the outside of the curve and to bunch on the inside. Once the outer wall thins past what the reinforcement can carry, the hose becomes a weak point under pressure, and once the inner wall folds, flow is restricted and the hose may collapse under vacuum. How tight a bend can be produced therefore depends on the bore, the wall thickness, the number of plies and the way the hose is formed, and a molded hose with a pre-formed elbow holds a much tighter radius than a straight hose forced into a curve on the vehicle. Fudiesel checks the routing on the drawing or the sample and states the achievable geometry for that part in the quotation.
